Land acknowledgement

PHA Canada acknowledges that we operate on the traditional and unceded territories of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples, whose rich and diverse cultures, languages, and histories continue to shape this land we now call Canada. We recognize the deep and lasting impact of colonial history and are committed to reconciliation through education, reflection, and meaningful action.

Since 2021, PHA Canada has worked to incorporate the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's (TRC) Calls to Action into our work. We have dedicated time for staff to read and discuss the TRC’s Calls to Action, ensuring we reflect on their impact and identify ways to improve our practices. Recently, our team completed diversity and equity training as part of our ongoing effort to become a culturally safe, welcoming, and trusted resource for Indigenous people living with pulmonary hypertension (PH).

We remain committed to educating ourselves about the colonial history and its effects on Indigenous Peoples, and we continue to focus on building sustainable, respectful relationships. By listening, learning, and working in partnership with Indigenous communities, we aim to create lasting, positive change. Guided by our vision of inclusivity and equity, we strive to ensure that our programs and resources are accessible, supportive, and responsive to the needs of Indigenous individuals and families impacted by PH.

PHA Canada is dedicated to taking meaningful steps forward in the spirit of reconciliation, working together to build a future where Indigenous voices are heard, valued, and empowered.
