Cynthia Neilson

Cynthia’s daughter Clare was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in 2012 when Clare was two years old. Cynthia got involved in the pulmonary hypertension community as a patient and family advisor at SickKids Hospital in 2019. She continued her journey with an appointment to the PHA Canada Board of Directors in September 2023. Cynthia brings her first-hand experience of being a parent and caregiver to a child with pulmonary hypertension. She and her family reside in Toronto, Ontario.

Cynthia holds Bachelor's degrees in Physical and Health Education, Geography, and Education. She also has a Master’s in Human Kinetics. Cynthia brings an understanding of the healthcare system, having worked for provincial and federal government healthcare agencies for fifteen years.

As a PHA Canada Board member, Cynthia is committed to raising awareness of pulmonary hypertension and ensuring all patients and their families have the information and support they need to navigate the healthcare system to receive the best care possible.
