  • PHA Canada Ambassador Program

    Ambassadors are people living with PH, family members and caregivers of PH patients who work on behalf of PHA Canada to extend our reach across the country and provide leadership to the PH Community. Ambassadors are champions of PHA Canada who seek to inspire others and facilitate collective action in support of a better life for those affected by PH.

    PHA Canada's Ambassador team members live in communities across Canada and bring unique perspectives and backgrounds. We strive to be inclusive of voices from different cultural, linguistic, and geographic groups. We encourage all potential candidates who want to contribute to apply.

    Position Classification: Two-year volunteer term

    Link to Mission: PHA Canada’s mission is to empower the pulmonary hypertension community through support, education, advocacy, awareness, and research. We do this on behalf of and in collaboration with all Canadians affected by pulmonary hypertension, including families and caregivers. Ambassadors work on behalf of PHA Canada to extend our reach across the country and provide leadership to the pulmonary hypertension community. Ambassadors are champions of PHA Canada who seek to inspire others and facilitate collective action in support of a better life for those affected by pulmonary hypertension.

    Responsibilities:

    • Active participation in advancing PHA Canada’s mission, including identifying new opportunities for community-based projects
    • Representing PHA Canada at external meetings and events
    • Participating in public speaking engagements on behalf of PHA Canada
    • Sharing PHA Canada’s story and your own personal PH journey with others
    • Providing support and leadership to special events and campaigns
    • Acting as a mentor to other PHA Canada members and volunteers


    Scope: This is a part-time volunteer position. Ambassadors are expected to commit to a two-year term and contribute five to 10 hours of work per month, including attendance at regular team meetings. Ambassadors will be required to participate in online meetings/trainings and may be required to travel occasionally.

    This position reports to the Executive Director and to the Board of Directors via the Ambassador Board Liaison.

  • Pediatrics Committee

    PHA Canada engages the assistance of a variety of experts in community support and education, healthcare, medicine, and research to effectively deliver on its mission. One of three standing committees, the purpose of the Pediatrics Committee is to help identify and develop resources and programs that support families and communities of children living with PH.

    The Pediatrics Committee, which includes parents and pediatric PH nurses, works with PHA Canada to provide support and education resources to families of young people living with PH. The committee offers a unique opportunity for members to help identify community needs and to improve the lives of families dealing with PH across the country.

    Position Classification: Two-year volunteer term

    Link to Mission: PHA Canada’s mission is to empower the pulmonary hypertension community through support, education, advocacy, awareness, and research. We do this on behalf of and in collaboration with all Canadians affected by pulmonary hypertension, including families and caregivers. The purpose of the Pediatrics Committee is to help identify and develop resources and programs that help families and communities support children living with PH.

    Responsibilities:
    We are not looking for degrees but rather for volunteers willing to spare a couple of hours each month to help make a difference in the PH community.  The Pediatrics Committee collaborates with PHA Canada to identify and develop resources and programs relevant to the committee’s purpose.
    Specific activities include:

    • Identifying priorities for new resources, especially for underserved parts of the pediatric PH community
    • Engaging families and communities affected by pediatric PH and encouraging participation in PHA Canada initiatives
    • Providing feedback on new and existing resources to create improvements and ensure resources are relevant for the target audience

    Scope: This is a part-time volunteer position. The Pediatrics Committee meets once a month for approximately 60-90 minutes. Additional work on specific projects may also take place via email in between meetings.

  • Knowledge Philanthropist Team
    Knowledge Philanthropists are specialized volunteers recruited to PHA Canada for a specific project or job assignment. Depending on their professional background, Knowledge Philanthropists may assist with a variety of projects and activities.  

    Position Classification: One-year volunteer term

    Link to Mission: PHA Canada’s mission is to empower the pulmonary hypertension community through support, education, advocacy, awareness, and research. We do this on behalf of and in collaboration with all Canadians affected by pulmonary hypertension, including families and caregivers. Each Knowledge Philanthropist (KP) serves PHA Canada’s mission in their own way. Depending on their professional background, they may assist with content development, resource design, digital marketing, capacity building, or more.

    Responsibilities:
    Knowledge Philanthropists work closely with a designated staff person to develop a Letter of Agreement that outlines the deliverables expected of the Knowledge Philanthropist, the length of time of the volunteer commitment, and any training, equipment, materials, or benefits provided by PHA Canada.

    Scope: This is a part-time volunteer position.
